Writing this blog post is like having to write my best man speech all over again. This wedding was so special for so many different reasons. Kevin and Jenna are two of my closest friends. I love them dearly and I’ve been a witness of their relationship from the very beginning. In fact, Kevin was my roommate when it all started. Yes, you might recognize Kevin from somewhere, he is part of the team of FlyFeNniX. I remember very well when I first talked with him about the idea of starting this company, since it was around the same time that he told me he would propose to Jenna. We both had very exciting days ahead of us, which is a great thing to share between close friends.
Now, I know my friends fill out registries for wedding gifts, but I know that the most special gist I can give them is something that will last them forever. A memory, either through photography or film, sharing what I do is the least I can do, so without a moment’s hesitation, I told him I would take care of his wedding photography and videography. This is when he asked me how would I plan on doing that if he were to ask me to be his best man.
I had no idea.
Obviously I would accept his offer, but this would definitely bring a new challenge to my table. I should explain that not being involved with something I’m producing is really hard for me. I like looking through the camera when I direct, I like being in control of the stuff I shoot, and I knew that I would have to let go of that for this wedding. A wedding I cared so much for.
I know that the following will sound like I’m advertising my company, but I really do have the best team. Micah and Alison did a superb job. Micah took care of photography, Britt jumped back and forth from photo to video, and I got two wonderful videographers, Chris and Graham, to take my place and Kevin’s with video.
All that to say, I am extremely honored to present to you this beautiful wedding.
